Research results of Filial therapy consistently show significant improvements in many areas including child's behaviors, parents' skills and acceptance of their children and decrease in stress level of parents. Filial therapy has been used successfully with a wide variety of children and family problems including anxiety, reactive attachment, oppositional/defiant behavior and developmental disorders.

Parent Involvement

Parents will learn the following skills from the therapist in a supportive, playful and non-threatening environment:
 * Structuring
 * Empathic Listening
 * Child-centered imaginary play
 * Limit setting and
 * Understanding play themes

After mastery parents are able to generalize the skills outside of the play sessions to further solidify positive family change.
